Merasheen oysters are a high-quality, boutique cocktail oyster cultivated in the icy, nutrient-rich waters of Merasheen Bay in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. As the first commercially farmed oysters from Newfoundland, they are distinguished by a remarkable four- to five-year growth cycle in one of the coldest oyster-growing regions in Atlantic Canada. Grown on floating rafts with no contact with the seafloor, their cultivation method helps prevent environmental damage while producing a pristine shellfish. On the palate, they offer a lingering salinity on the front, beautifully balanced by a natural sweetness. Flavor notes of seaweed and clean minerals give way to a subtle mushroom and lightly nutty finish.
